Xopa, unlike many other coffee liqueurs, is made with real coffee (not just flavorings). In this case, 100% Caturra coffee, harvested and roasted by hand in the highlands of Chiriquí.

The coffee is blended with our pot still rum, Casa Barú, produced a short distance from Boquete in our own distillery. All the ingredients come from this beautiful region of Panama: both the coffee we use and the rum we distill benefit from the rich volcanic soils, the high altitude and the rains that fall all year round, to give Xopa a flavor like no other. A taste of pure Panama, in fact!

When looking for the perfect place to set up his distillery, master distiller Dick Barba was enchanted by the unique conditions at the foot of the Barú volcano: natural spring water fed by year-round rainfall from the temperate forest climate filtered through rich volcanic soil, and a high altitude, perfect for long, slow maturation.
 

These same conditions are perfect for growing some of the best coffee in the world. He was soon struck by a idea: why not combine these two things to create a very special coffee liqueur, made from the finest local ingredients: our artisanal pot still rum and the hand-roasted coffee beans combined in a drink that embodies the energy of the modern Panama.

With a rich, deep flavor profile and less sugar than most coffee liqueurs (to highlight its expert roast), Xopa is made for those who truly appreciate great coffee.
